Table Gaming in West Virginia 2006

The State Legislature here in West Virginia is again contemplating a Table Gaming Law. If it is similar to the bill they tried to pass last year. It means there could be Table Gaming (POKER, Craps, Roulette, BlackJack, etc.) at any or all of the State's race tracks.

Last year's bill was passed by the State Senate and moved to the House of Delegates where it passed through one of the two committees quickly. It then got bottled up in the Finance Committee as the House was working to try and fix the State's Workman's Compensation system.

All indications I have read so far indicate the bill should pass. West Virginia does not want to lose revenues to Pennsylvania which passed a slots bill last year.

I will try to keep everyone updates as often as I can. In the meantime, you can email your State Legislators (and Committee Chairmen) and let them know how you feel on this issue. You can find member's email addresses here. Be courteous and respectful!
