Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races: Poker Room

OK, I haven't been there yet.  But being unemployed as I am, I can still research the new Poker Room at Hollywood Casino online.  You can too.  Here is the link.

If you don't want to go to the link yet, here is the information it contains:

Hours of the Poker Room are currently 1PM to 4AM Mondays through Thursdays.  On Weekends they are open 24 hours (Friday 1PM through Monday 4AM).

There are currently 27 Tables offering Limit and No-Limit Texas Hold'em, Limit and Pot-Limit Omaha 8 or Better, and 7Card Stud.  It also says games are will be based on Player demand and table availability.  So if you don't see your game, and you can get a full table, you can probably play it there.

Another piece of information not yet available on the website (I asked them via email):
They do not currently run any poker tournaments, but they are planning to do so after the first of the year.

So if you are going to be in the neighborhood, let me know.

Enjoy the Pokery Goodness!

PS: Yes they have Pai Gow!

WSOP Coverage

I have been watching the WSOP coverage on ESPN On Demand.  And from the coverage I think I have figured out what Norman Chad's ex-wives call him...  I think he is called "The Rambling Wreck".

90%?

Well at least I can say I was better than more than 90 percent of the players entered in the $1000 Weekly Freeroll at Full Tilt Poker.  But that is about all I can say.  I was going alone pretty well until My AQ ran into AA and I lost three fourths of my chips (At least I did not lose them all).  I did recover and played over half the tournament even getting into the top 1000 for a while.  But the blinds and antes kept going up and I was card dead for quite a while.  Oh well.  It was good experience.  Officially I went out 1223 out of over 18000.  Maybe next time.

Incident at Hollywood Casino

I wasn't there, but if this is the kind of thing that goes on at Hollywood Casino I am not sure I want to play poker there.
The following is from the "The Journal's" website.  The Journal is the Eastern Panhandle's daily newspaper.

Man arrested on betting charges
September 18, 2010

CHARLES TOWN - A Lorton, Va., man was arrested on four counts of West Virginia table games violation Thursday at the Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races.

Abraham G. Abraham, 43, allegedly was caught on surveillance video placing a bet after knowing the outcome of four separate Texas Hold Em poker games, according to court records.

Abraham allegedly told West Virginia Lottery Investigator David Loftis that he had placed a bet after knowing his hand approximately five or six times, and that he was sorry.

Abraham was arrested at 8:44 p.m. Thursday and taken to the Eastern Regional Jail. He was later released on a $10,000 bond.

I am guessing that this gentleman will not be welcome at Hollywood Casino again.  I think the article was trying to say Abraham was allegedly trying to put chips into the pot after he knew he had won.  The way the article is worded it sounds like you are not allowed to bet on Texas Hold Em.

Either way, Hollywood Casino would do well to get the exact circumstances published so others don't try it.  I would like to think that the casino would like to run a clean game.  Because at some point I would like to Enjoy the Pokery Goodness there.

Come see the Dead Money

By some freak happenstance, I find myself in the Full Tilt Poker $1000 Dollar Freeroll Sunday at 3:40 pm eastern time.  I won entrance this morning by being one of the top 250 in one of there qualifying freerolls.  I have no chance in hell against a possible 30,000, but it will be fun.  Come by and watch one of the worst players in poker.  If you do stop by, my FTP ID is "the mortal 1".

Now back to your regularly scheduled sucky blog.

Chip Off the Old Block

Last night my 8 year old son sweated me while I played a one table SnG online last night.  It was for chips and not money.  He made most of the decisions, I explained the board to him and he would decide what I should do.  We actually made it to the 1 hour break in a close 3rd place.  Then we flirted with the chip lead and one of the other two players took out the other.  We were in a close second.  We battled back and forth for a good 10 minutes.

Then we saw AJ spades in the big blind and called.  We bet, the other player raised and we went all in.  The other player had KTo and spiked a 10 on the river.  I don't look at it as a bad beat.  I look at it as a valuable lesson for my son.  We can only control the things we have control over.  We got our chips in when the odds were in our favor, but poker as in life there are no guarantees.

Playing again...

The past two weeks I have been playing on Full Tilt Poker again.  So far, I have been playing only with chips.  I have been playing mostly multi-table SnGs.  I have been in the money (chips) 4 out of 5 times.  I have also played 4 freeroll tournaments.  I have yet to cash, but I have gone deep each time.  I think that it is only a matter of time before I start getting some return on my time investment.  If you see me at the tables, give me a yell.  I usually don't pay attention to the chat, unless my name is in the box.
